Bluetooth Kopfhörer Audioqualität – Discord

Unter Verwendung von Bluetooth Kopfhörern mit einem externen Mikrofon auf Windows in Verbindung mit Discord kann es vorkommen, dass generell oder bei bestimmten Anwendungen/Spielen die Audioqualität der Audioausgabe sehr rauschig ist.

Der Grund dafür ist, dass Windows bei den Kopfhörern trotz externen Mikrofons das eingebaute Mikrofon erkennt und die dafür speziellen Profile zur Übertragung verwendet auch wenn das eingebaute Mikrofon nicht verwendet wird.

Technischer Hintergrund:
Bluetooth-Audio ist in verschiedene Profile unterteilt, die unterschiedliche Zwecke erfüllen. Hochwertige Audioübertragung erfolgt über das A2DP-Profil (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), das für Musikstreaming optimiert ist und Codecs wie SBC, AAC, aptX oder LDAC nutzt. Sobald jedoch ein Mikrofon verwendet wird, wechselt Bluetooth auf das HFP- oder HSP-Profil (Hands-Free Profile / Headset Profile), das für Sprachkommunikation gedacht ist. Diese Profile haben eine deutlich reduzierte Audioqualität, da sie für bidirektionale Kommunikation optimiert sind und Bluetooth-typische Bandbreitenbeschränkungen berücksichtigen müssen.

Damit beim nutzen der Bluetooth Kopfhörer mit externen Mikrofon die Audioqualität nicht beeinflusst wird bzw. das Profil nicht geändert wird kann man die automatische Umschaltung deaktivieren.

1. Öffne die „Systemsteuerung“
   Windows Taste und in die Suche „Systemsteuerung“ eingeben
2. Zu „Hardware und Sound“ navigieren
   
3. Zu „Geräte und Drucker“ navigieren
   
4. Unter „Geräte“ den Bluetooth Kopfhörer finden und mit Rechtsklick das Kontextmenü öffnen
   
5. Im Kontextmenü auf „Eigenschaften“ klicken
   
6. Den Tab „Dienste“ auswählen
   
7. Unter „Bluetooth-Dienste“ den Hacken bei Freisprechtelefonie entfernen und anschließend „Übernehmen“ klicken, Fertig!

When using Bluetooth headphones with an external microphone on Windows in conjunction with Discord, it can happen that the audio quality of the audio output is very noisy in general or with certain applications/games.

The reason for this is that Windows recognizes the built-in microphone of the headphones despite the external microphone and uses the special profiles for transmission even if the built-in microphone is not used.

Technical background:
Bluetooth audio is divided into different profiles that fulfill different purposes. High-quality audio transmission takes place via the A2DP profile (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), which is optimized for music streaming and uses codecs such as SBC, AAC, aptX or LDAC. However, as soon as a microphone is used, Bluetooth switches to the HFP or HSP profile (Hands-Free Profile / Headset Profile), which is intended for voice communication. These profiles have a significantly reduced audio quality as they are optimized for bidirectional communication and have to take into account typical Bluetooth bandwidth limitations.

To ensure that the audio quality is not affected or the profile is not changed when using Bluetooth headphones with an external microphone, you can deactivate automatic switching.

1. Open the “Control Panel”
   Windows key and enter “Control Panel” in the search field
2. Navigate to “Hardware and Sound”
   
3. Navigate to “Devices and Printers”
   
4. Find the Bluetooth headphones under “Devices” and right-click to open the context menu
   
5. Click on “Properties” in the context menu
   
6. Select the “Services” tab
   
7. Under “Bluetooth services”, uncheck “Hands-free telephony” and then click “Apply”, done!
